The purpose of the Methodist Institute of Missiological studies is to research the theology and methods of mission in the Methodist tradition. Since Missiology is the study of the mission of the church, the institute studies local churches and mission-oriented organizations.

The purpose of the Institute of Biblical Archaeology is to go beyond the historical literary criticism, examining artifacts and archeological literature through the lens of social science and anthropological considerations to ascertain historical evidence of the word of God.

The Christian Education research center seeks creative and practical ways to apply the theory of Christian Education in local church settings and ministry locations.

In light of rapidly changing academic landscape in the 21st century, the center promotes conversations among all academic disciplines such as Eastern and Western philosophy, natural sciences, medicine, literature, ecology, feminist studies, sociology, folklore and Christian theology so that the learning can be used to offer fresh insights to the ministry and to keep the Christian message relevant to the contemporary world.

The purpose of the Institute for Word and Sacrament is academic research of worship and preaching. Utilizing the information gathered in practice, models of worship and preaching are sought that are faithful to the tradition, biblically based, spiritual and incorporating culture and music.

An academic research center where graduate students present their research projects and discuss their findings on the subject of Pastoral Counseling and Spirituality. The Center also offers pastoral counseling and small group workshops (pastoral counseling, spirituality) to undergraduate students

Center for life and peace aims to assist the pastors and the divinity students in responding not from dimensions of personal imperatives but the dimension of universal ethics, based on the perfectionism ethics of Jesus Christ, by analyzing diverse ethical issues in the church ministry and the real world.

Established for theological and ministry studies of the future churches in the ever changing cultures by encompassing past and future, formulating practical ideas and solutions for the ministry through cooperation with international future church research organizations in order to assist churches with visions of ministry and global missions.

Focusing on New Testament Theology, this institute researches ways to help pastors, lay persons and seminary students to understand the scripture and apply it in their lives by learning the cultural and historical background and the circumstances in which the scripture was written.

This institute, established at MTU, April 26, 2021, and called HAN-Minjok Mission and Research Center is to study the history and the identity of the Korean people spread all over the world. In order to seek reconciliation and reunification between the two Koreas, in particular, we study the theology and mission policy of the Korean people. With holding the forum, our main purpose is to train theological leaders for the reconstruction of the North Korean church and the establishment of the Korean church.

The purpose of this institute is to provide the academic/practical foundation which will cultivate global Methodist leaders out of female theological students of the Methodist Theological University.

The Research Center on the Theology of John Wesley studies John Wesley’s practical theology of ministry and applies it in the context of the modern Korean churches and its mission. Also, the center focuses on utilizing John Wesley’s concept of Jubilee on the process of raising consciousness toward the reunification of Korea.

The influence of modern science is growing in modern society. Natural sciences, including evolutionary biology and Big Bang cosmology especially, seem to be conflict with theology. However, interdisciplinary studies between science and theology are under active discussion globally. Institute for science and theology widely studies how science and theology dialogue and co-exist.

The center attempts to explore the variety of religious philosophies and to compare them with traditional religious philosophies. It also explores how the academic claims of Christianity and other religions can be evaluated and how Christian theology can be reinterpreted appropriately today, and therefore, newly applied to today's church settings.

Through the academic research on the religious conflict situation and ecclesiastical responsibility that are rooted in Korean society, this Institue is intended to develop the various exercise capacities that Christians should have for unification. In preparation for the post-unification era, this Institute seeks a way forward for inter-Korean reconciliation and unity.

Based on the biblical, theological, and historical understanding of worship, Institute for Worship & Culture is studying how the liturgical spirits can be practically applied in contemporary culture and the context of church today.
